Meet Amy

Educator, working mom, & fierce champion for the working class

Amy Sabbadini is a lifetime public servant, dedicated to Central Oregon. A former high school social studies teacher of nearly 20 years, Amy has seen the challenges in our community in the lives of her students - from homelessness and the rising cost of living, to the growing threat of wildfire or the impacts of decades of disinvestment in public health. Amy knows that education is the bedrock of opportunity, and that teaching is about more than just curriculum: she has changed the lives of countless students throughout her career.

Now she is stepping up to fight for affordability for every family in Deschutes County.

Amy is running to bring the perspective of working people to the County Commission. As a working mother who served in leadership roles in her union, Amy knows the importance of fair pay and decent working conditions. She knows the most of families are only one emergency away from losing their income, or their home. On County Commission, she'll fight for an economy that works for working families and small businesses.

Before finding her passion in education, Amy was a county land use planner. She knows that local government is a powerful driver of economic growth, and also at the heart of preserving the natural wonders that make Central Oregon so special.

Today Amy serves as Regional Program Manager of the Civics Learning Project, a respected organization that prepares Oregon's youth to become active, engaged, and informed participants in democratic society through programs like mock trial and We the People.

Amy lives in Bend with her husband, Dave, her two children, and their two dogs Juno and (brand new puppy) Rosie.
